A focused search for one specific fact, person, or event in archives, when a full family history research is not required.

  • Focus on one clearly defined question.
  • Work with a specific archive, region, or parish.
  • Time- and cost-efficient solution.

We help you properly formulate your request before starting the work.

What is a targeted genealogical request

A targeted genealogical request is a narrowly defined task aimed at finding one person, one event, or one specific fact in archival records.

Simply put, it is a request like “find exactly this” without conducting a full-scale genealogical study of the entire family.

Examples of targeted requests

  • finding the date and place of birth of a specific person;
  • checking whether a person was repressed or persecuted;
  • locating a marriage record in a specific parish;
  • identifying the original village or town of a family;
  • confirming or disproving a family relationship between two people;
  • finding a vital record or census entry for one individual.

When to choose a targeted request

  • when one missing fact blocks further research;
  • when archival access time is limited;
  • when a full genealogical study is not necessary.

How to formulate a good request

A well-prepared targeted request usually includes:

  • who you are looking for: full name, approximate life dates;
  • what exactly you want to find;
  • where to search: archive, region, parish;
  • the time range for the search.

Example request

“Please find the birth record of Peter Ivanov, presumably from 1885–1887, Nikolskoe parish, Tver Governorate.”

Service price

The cost of a targeted genealogical request is 150 €.
